So...the secret is out. Our patio will be a 10 foot Sundial when it's not in use as a patio. 2" steel strapping will line out the hour markers. Picked em up at FC Metal Works for a fraction of what Home Despot charges. And...they even cut them for me to length. A few more and then I can start laying the stones around them. Neighbor came by while I was sanding and painting the strapping (graphite grey) and commented one what she 'suspected' I was doing with the patio. She was right! I'm thinking that if FC Metal Works can cut me a 6 inch metal pipe into 2" ring I can use that to fan out the legs of the dial.
