House progress

For three weeks the kitchen nook has been left unfinished. Can't seem to motivate myself to get the brushes out and trim it up. So there it sits. Have the last of the small beams made and will install it once the paint is complete. Which is When, again??

Kris and I have been focusing our design energy on the Laramie house. We now have a couch, funky leather chair and a coffee table which we will take up on Friday. (it's sitting in the garage in their protective cocoons)

So, a nice orange for the dining room. Dark simple table with dark chairs. We plan to add two red leather highback chairs for accents. Some red colorblock artwork for the walls.

Living room will be a neutral tan and the colors will come from the rugs and curtains. Rugs are EXPENSIVE!!! so, we continue to shop for just the right one. Friday we head there to paint and start redoing the trim work.

That kitchen will just have to wait!

talkin' soccer trash

So, our arch rivals for indoor soccer schooled us TWICE in the past week. They couldn't make the first game (due to the stupid bronco's game) and wanted us to switch nights (we should have taken the forfeit...but we were nice and moved the date two weeks out) I was talking trash about them feeling lucky that they didn't show the first night because we were ready to kick their @ss!!

Well, that came back to haunt us and they beat us twice! First game we rocked but they simply outscored us. Second game we just couldn't get it together (and we kept leaving opens downfield, one guy and one girl who BOTH have strong shots) Mistake mistake and they beat us by 4!! So, we AGAIN end up with second place for the session. Can't we finish in first like on outdoor?? what's going on here??

what is..

So, not much new to report. The dogs have taken to eating things around the house. Ben pulled one of my nice Italian cookbooks from the shelf...chewed the cover and a nice corner of the flap. Later he got my nice leather bound diary that we bought in Venice. (he was almost out on the streets for that one...) let's see....what else....oh yeah....my headphone talkset. Gone. Magazines?? no problem... posturpedic pillow? just a corner will do (never mind the big hole in the pillow case)

OK....it's Ben. He's the guilty party! Geli is an Angel. But I'm ever impressed by Ben's learning curve. He's a smart cookie. Maybe we get him a trainer so he can reach his full potential.

We also got HD TV installed. 5 channels, movies, ESPN, and my favorite Discovery HD theatre. I find myself blowing off all of the other channels for this one. Content is good and picture and sound quality are amazing. Equator, the real middle earth?? Sunrise Earth? Corwin's experience?? I can zone out for hours and feel like I'm ALMOST.....there. Love the HD.

So, Ben digs these too and gets excited watching the wildlife; especially the African Safari stuff. You can see him track an antelope across the screen (the room) Kind of neat. But, I was watching a show on Gorillas in Uganda, right?? You'd think THIS would excite him a bit. Nada!!! No show of interest at all. Then Kristine says "I think he's not interested because he thinks we all look alike" What????
'You Homonids all look the same to me' kind of thing" Hmmm. I think she's right and furthers my opinions on Evolution.

Jacque Iltis....1998 Riesling. Picked this up in Alsace a few years ago. One of wineries we visited. and Man....kris is missing out. I'm going to finish this bottle yet. (I DID use a cup or two to cook with so don't get all judgemental that I'm drinking an entire bottle.....and there IS one glass left for kris to sample!!) I'm just saying.....
