Busy May

Not too many posts. been really busy with our summer build (work) and planning for the Laramie tub work (this weekend) and maybe a start to the deck in Late June. Hmmm

too much to do. Too little time.

Ben seems to be taking to being on his own in the back yard. With Geli in Laramie, Ben has to entertain himself and he's doing quite well. I think he's liking a little independence as he goes out there on his own now, just to crash, take a look and goof about while I'm inside.

He's also been really good about sitting in the front yard off leash while I read on the porch. (even with his sworn enemies passing by; the nurses and their doggies.....must be something about being inside or having that fortress to protect)

Westerns

Westerns. KB gets on my case about watching westerns. Well, one and only one western, Rio Bravo.

what can I say? me likey.

But...music wise...The Magnificent Seven written by Elmer Bernstein.

Brilliant. KB taught me that He was one of ones that defined the western them. When we hear those themes and think of the old west....we have Elmer to thank for that.

So, thank you. I mean it.

Jews from New York. Friggin' Brilliant.

Bernstein was born in New York City on April 4, 1922

He wrote the theme songs or other music for more than 200 films and TV shows, including The Magnificent Seven , The Great Escape, The Ten Commandments (1956), The Man with the Golden Arm, To Kill a Mockingbird, Robot Monster, Ghostbusters and the fanfare used in the National Geographic television specials. His theme for The Magnificent Seven is also familiar to television viewers, as it was used in commercials for Marlboro cigarettes. Bernstein also provided the score to many of the short films of Ray and Charles Eames.

Friggin Brilliant.

And then Billy Strange. What an odd character.

and by the way....there is a vortex in Laramie.

The real west.

The week so far

I work with a bunch of idiots. (or at least they act like it)

Leftover veggies. I had a sweet potato and an acorn squash. Roasting sounded good. Garlic, butter, olive oil and dill on the acorn squash. Same on the sweet potato except no butter and no dill (and instead a little onion)

Dang.....this were good! Kris says that I underroast. maybe. tonite they went almost a full hour and they were soft as can be. nice.

my one real accomplishment today.

that and telling a co-worker where he F#@$ed up this week.

Sheer Laziness

Two full weeks without blogging.

Tonite....Double Pilsner from the best Brewery in the country; Odell's.

And tonite...salmon in cartoccio with of course, Double Pilsner.

We shall see. And KB would be proud....I bought two unripened avocado's (avocadi as I like to call them) and I'm planning on having it half (now-ripened) for my insalata.

And here's the gig. The food is the art. I like it because, it can be as short or as long a process and you want...you can easily break the barriers of the recipes (as in the above experiment). do what you want. and in the end.....mangia bene (speriamente)

KB has been trying to get me to do a starter and I'm for some stupid reason reluctant. Can't handle one more thing into the schedule?? (no....I'm lazy remember?)

my short review on the Double Pils is stellar. These guys simply know what they are doing. I Love Odell's!
