Charlie

Gordon's Turkeys

Oops. Made a nice breakfast for KB and myself; poached eggs, toast, potatos dauphinois. yummy.

We sit down, flip on the tele. I'm flipping through the channel guide and I see Ramsey's the F word. Ask KB if we can watch, she says sure.

Gordon and his kids have been growing turkeys for thanksgiving dinner. And now it's slaughter time, right when we tune in.

600 volts in the mouth to stun them, slit of the jugular. Even Gordon felt a little remorse.

KB put's her plate down after having only a few bites and gives me that look.

Breakfast is over.

Chinese New Year Celebration

Thursday February 7th was the start of the Chinese Year of the Rat (KB just happens to be a rat too) We celebrated day two of the fifteen day party at our house with Carry out Chinese Food (thank you China Wok!), Chinese Beer (Harpin and TsingTao) and a few chinese cocktails. About 15 people came over. Lots of stuff revolving around the doggies (it is their birthday btw according to Chinese mythology) KB made some cool scrolls with our guests aspects and tips for the new year. A few fireworks in the mix and we had a decent little party.

Last night we went to the Lincoln Center to see the Chinese Acrobats. Now that was a cool show. They were scheduled for Thursday/Friday but got stuck at Vail Pass and had to reschedule the days. Lucky for us. The show was like a mini-Cirque de Chinois. And at 10 bucks, well worth it. The two sets that stand out in my mind, was one of the girls spun a 3 foot wooden table on her feet (she started with a big chinese vase and spun that every directions). But when she did the table it blew my mind. Every directions, every side of the table. THEN she did it with one foot, while spinning umbrellas with the free foot and her free hands. incredible.

The other one was a balancing act at the edge of the stage. 4 bottles of Ballatore Champagne bottles made the base for chair stacking. (at this close to edge, I was happy when this one was over) He carefully climbed, stacked, climbed, stacked until he was 8 chairs up (about 30 feet) then proceeded to stand on his hands....and then on one hand. Freaky.

Lots of kids there and we fit right in. Good show! Go see it if it comes near you.

To Rooms 408 and 418. Spooky

Posted by Picasa

These two rooms were the "haunted" rooms. Although, the clerk claims that the entire 4th floor has paranormal activity, these two are listed in the history books as the hotspots.

We had room 416. Nice but no other worldly activity while we were there. (they did have the shining playing on a dedicated channel 24/7)

KB chillin' in the lobby

Mantle Sketch Stanley Hotel

JCR...Evening Friday Feb 1. 30 minute exercise while we drank coffee and enjoyed the fireplace in the lobby of the Stanley. A great 30 minutes in my book. (I even snagged a few NYTimes Xword puzzles for KB. Too bad one of them was from MASH. I think it dated me. Dang!)
