Deck work continues fed by yassa

Saturday morning. Stardate November 21, 2009. Really nice weather today. Ben and I picked up some supplies from Lowe's and got the two east end post set. Few more to go and we can actually start framing. Well, might just start framing to give my back a break.

closed up shop at noon, to get cleaned up so we could head to Boulder and see one of KB's K college Alums. She's from Senegal and did the overseas study opposite of KB.

We did the west african Yassa Poulet for linner (as their kids called it) spread out on the blanket and we all ate communal style. Fantastic. Home cooked. Way better Yassa than the restaurant we had this last time in Paris. After that was Attaya; three courses of tea and mint. yogurt and fruit for dessert and we headed back to FC. RBR was interesting to watch get warmed up there and finally break out to start playing and having a good time. fun stuff.

KB and RBR dropped me at Windsor for soccer at 6:30. (scored a goal, yes in deed) and Paul gave me a ride home.

I'll be sore tomorrow.

Snow storm.

Friday afternoon a storm blew in. KB made it back from Laramie a little early. Roslyn had an appt with the doc about her cough (turns out to be nothing of concern) and I never made it back to the office but spent most of that 3 hours on the phone or email. aiy

And my throat is killing me. started friday morning and here it is Sunday and it's pretty bad. KB was nice enough to make soup, get me theraflu, draw me nice hot salt baths. She rocks.

Now she's taking care of baby sweet corn. (after she shoveled the driveway and walk. oh yeah....and playing with Ben out in the snow. he loves it out there. she reminded me how much he and Geli used to romp in the first snows of the season)

Roslyn is 8 months today and we took her to the LCEC for HINI vaccination. Then to Barnes and Noble (she was gracious enough to sleep it off while we read bargain books and magazines.)

Now it's bath time for baby girl and wind down to bedtime.

A weird weekend.

Ben is too funny

there is a tennis ball under there somewhere

Tuesday.

ok, monday was a disaster (and carry over from the weekend of conflict)

WTF?

Couple negative things happened at work (missed a page and boss was MAD oh!)
Roslyn was entirely cranky. she must not have slept at daycare, but we had a big bottle (after having the clean out the entire kitchen countertops - which is entirely another story)
finally, kicking and screaming....she's went into her crib. I put on Yoga groove and she fell fast asleep (this is at 6:30 which is way earlier than her usual 8:00)

Kb didn't get home until 7:00 and felt bummed that she didn't get to see Roslyn.

Aiy!

Tuesday? more of the same. Roslyn must be on a new cycle. AND I got in a little (deserved trouble) because RBR was down on only a bottle and really should eat before going to bed.
the good part was that she woke up after about 35 min nap and I was back out of trouble. Whew!

She ate great with us; avocado, fish, diggin on the broccoli, rice cereal.

And then ALL of us back to bed after watching HOW THE EARTH WAS MADE (PT 1)

Soccer

Sore from Soccer. We played a team that is solid all the way through. We look like a bunch of hacks out there. But we did score one to avoid a shut out. Knee felt good until late second half then it turned sloppy. That's when I started subbing out like every two minutes. Let's see a kick to the face (at least the girl backed off right before wacking me) an elbow to the face (that guy was a tool, they were up 7-0 in the rec league and he's still playing like that, telling me to get the F off of him) and when I was sideline, an errant ball caught me in the ear. (youch!)

Didn't get home until midnight and didn't get to sleep until 2:00. I'll be paying for it later today. Roslyn was up bright and cheery at 6:00.

We're trying to get her to take her morning nap in the crib and it's a struggle.

This guy chased us down today

He's a bit of a wanker.

Ben was jogging with kb, side by side, and this guy ran out of his townhome (which faces the "natural area" at the creek) telling her to "GET YOUR DOG ON LEASH" KB was a little upset about it but I blew it off.

He also has finch feeders placed IN THE "natural area" but never fills them. So, KB wrote this note and I stuck it on there as we walked pass today (Ben ON leash)

"If you are going to place bird feeders in the "natural" area, please so kind as to keep them filled as the birds start to "naturally" depend on them while being "natural"

P.S. Also, please let us know when you feed them so we can be sure to let our cats out"

He must have seen me as we got to the other end of the trail and he flies up with his SUV, jumps out saying that we passed THREE signs that say DOGS ON LEASH and they've had trouble with people not picking up the poo.

(KB raises the bag that she JUST picked up Ben's POO-yes, ben WAS off leash for a short time there)

...and he says there are at least TWELVE poops left out there.

Hmmm

And he Drove ALL THE WAY DOWN HERE to tell us that.

I'm thinking he just might find a Thirteenth Poop ON FIRE ON HIS FRONT PORCH next time.

The pumpkins one week later

Halloween recap

Well, as usual it was fun. We had high hopes of taking Roslyn out in her Chimp suit to a few of the neighbors but that fell thru. She ain't no Chimp and she aint no chump. barely two hours and we had to get her out of it.

But in that two hours, her and I donned tats (and I added my big velvet top hat)
and we answered the door for trick or treaters.

EVERYONE thought she was a boy.

We dashed quite a few tricks (plastic easter eggs - but one kid got a real painted egg we had leftover) and tried to get rid of the candy we bought.

The neighbors daughter cursed me (she's probably around 5, dressed as a princess)
WTF?
The mom said, "now honey, we don't curse people"
Since she was dressed as a princess, made me think that she MEANT that curse!

and then I scratched my finger.

Dang.

Happy Halloween. we had tons of candy leftover. still had 88 or 89 kids but the cold dampened the outing. This weekend would have been a weekend for it. Supposed to be in the 70's during the day and clear during the nights. Oh well, another one for the books.

p.s. several parents had nice complements for the candlelit lanterns out front (we took the 5 from the patio, hung some in the trees and on the sheperd hooks) looked great.
