robert
Means "bright fame", derived from the Germanic elements hrod "fame" and beraht "bright". The Normans introduced this name to Britain, where it replaced the Old English cognate Hreodbeorht. It has been a very common English name since that time.

Two women gushing over the "obscene amount of candy" (your phrase) just isn't relevant to me. Who sets this programming? Oprah? Martha Stewart? This is supposed to be, primarily, a news program... or, at least, so I thought, until now. All Things Considered, indeed. A very cleverly-chosen name.

Christmas lights Plan B
So either the position or the lights themselves are working well. 3 of the 4 up there barely lit up and only stayed on for about 20 minutes before going dim and then off. dang!
Maybe they just need to fully recharge, but it was a sunny day although that angle is weird and they really no direct sunlight.
might have to go to plan B (the boring ordinary lights)

Christmas lights
a little scary climbing that 20 foot ladder, but there are only 2 more to drill. (and I have to get on the roof to access those.) Maybe I'll wait until KB gets home so that someone can call the Ambulance if I fall.

Lehem
Bread. Why do I have so much bread in the house? I have been mindlessly buying it, sliced orowheat, pita, rustic italian, baguette.
Hope that we can dry it out for breadcrumbs or something. There is no way I can eat all that bread.
Lehem.

Geli
Geli doing what she loved, wandering on her own in nature. This was taken at a rest stop in Nebraska on the trip home a week ago.
December 1st. Good bye Geli
Tonite we said our good byes to Geli. She's so beautiful and I will miss her dearly. She brought such joy into our lives and those that she touched.
Joe, it makes me happy to think that we not only got to go camping with her (lots), but we climbed a Fourteener with her. And she chased that elk down the mountain and came back.
KB, Geli will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for being there with me tonite. The other Fourteener with Geli was with you. Among many other adventures too numerous to recall. I love that dog.
Jupiter and Venus and that sliver of a moon in the SW sky tonite. They made a cock-eyed frowning face in the sky. Just how Geli would have liked it.
Thank you for spending most of your life with us, Geli. We will miss you.

My Sweet Girl
Geli went to the CSU Vet Hospital yesterday. Her breathing has gotten more labored. They took some xrays of her chest and abdomen. Her entire lung region is full of masses. No wonder she's working so hard to get air. They could not hear her heart beat and the stress of being in that room with out us made her breathing even worse.
We took her for a long slow walk around the lake last night. She seemed to like that. Same this morning. No leash, she just slowly walked with us (Ben of course, was tearing ahead)
The Vet pretty much concurred with CSU diagnosis; lung cancer. They thought that there was a small chance it was fungal infection. Either way being so advanced, the prognosis is very poor. Our vet even offered to come to the house for us, but we have already arranged with Dr Leach to come over tonite at 6:30.
Geli asked for a kong today and ate most of a hotdog too. Now she is sleeping and we're trying to just be with her for the next few hours.

Moby Dick unabridged
21 hours. Listened to on the drive. worked out nicely. Finished somewhere between here and STerling. KB fell asleep just as Ahab....uhmm....
Guess you know.
Guess you know.
The Talent show
The talent showed actually worked out better and worse than expected.
The lighting almost caught on fire (Anthony swears it was smoking), there were a number of ad-lib unexpected entries (Elliot's antics and the Papa Tony Show) and the show only lasted less than a half hour (where was the popcorn??)
And what about the booing and hissing? Tough Crowd.
Opening Act:
Glow Jars by Mountain Dew. (we read all the comments AFTER that it was all a hoax. Dolt!)
(I think Anthony did a joke here, but can't remember what it was)
The Dream on Weber Street. (I was proud of Lia for putting this together. Go Lia)
A scene from scarface (Thank you ALex!)
Mike's Wrap ( I knew he would do something. Show off! )
TEBAHLA (nicely done Lia)
The Lynn Show (our thoughts were that this was most put together and executed, except the music start)
Pageant (aka Pregnant) Duh!
Juggling (hard room to pull this off. Liked the music. Good stuff)
Magic Joe (quite well done. IGNORE THOSE HECLERS JOE)
My Sweet Lord (Orchestrated. nice)
Papa Tony's Improv. (oh Solo Trio)
Someone said that next year Elliot has to have a part or he'll be in all the parts like this year.
Nice job MC'ing, there Ant!
Fun stuff. Have to see the video. Who has it?

My baby isn't feeling well (at all). Been logging her symptoms over the week and will have her to the vet tomorrow at some point. I hate seeing her suffer like this.
She's utterly exhausted from the breathing constriction but won't go to sleep since she just wants to be with us wherever we are.
Hang in there Ms Stink.
and get some sleep already

82 kids
KB and I quickly carved a couple of pumpkins, made some more spider webs with twine on the front porch, put out some of the red lights from Chinese new year and moved the lanterns and their hooks to the front yard.
House actually looked pretty good for as fast as we threw it together.
Initially, we didn't have costumes but KB put on those big ears and a cowboy hat. I was rolling. I put on a red hat and made a clown out of myself. (really hard to do)
Our schtick for the night was we would present a desert tray with a few of each candy (Butter fingers, Reeses, Take Fives, toes, eyeballs, regular fingers and lips.) KB held the tray and I ran through the selection. Made the kids wait, and choose carefully.
At one point we brought a tomato into the fray. AMAZINGLY, kids wanted it. Two actually took 'em. One 7 year old kid said "oooh, tomatoes are a healthy, tasty treat" (yes, we asked the parents who were curbside if the kids could take them)
One little girl, just walked away, shaking her head, saying “To-Mato”. She must have thought we were ridiculous. I think she’ll remember us.
Later, an attractive mom and her kids stopped by with a puppy in tow. We did the candy hand out and then the mom says to me “Do you want to PET IT” (really annunciating the T’s.)
That was a little weird. But, I DID pet it.
One kid was apparently too tired to make the 20 foot walk from the sidewalk to our house. So…we moved the show to him. (he made his grandma pull him around in the wagon. What a life of riley this kid had)
At About 8:00, KB decided that we shouldn’t give out any more ‘food’ items like tomatos, just the candy. I guess the razor blade in the apple thing worried her. And I guess we don’t want to be known as THAT house.
I moved on to Easter Eggs, though (we had 12 blown ones from spring still in the house) Those went over OK with the young kids,, but by time I brought them out it was time for the teenagers. And they were just too cool for Eggs. Just too cool for any of it. And they were a tough crowd, because all they wanted was the grab and go. The little kids enjoyed the show that me and KB put on. Not the teenagers. Lots of eye rolling. But I made em wait. And I thought for sure we’d get egged or TP’d.
Neither happened and we got most of the candy out of the house. Except for the 2 EXTRA bags of Take Fives.
KB apparently likes those.
:)
Oh yeah...and the smoke bombs really stunk up the block.

Harvestival

thank you AAA
Paid 50 bucks to get a car battery booster, charge it and then left it in the trunk for almsot a year. (at least we only had to use it that frequently). But, when we needed it, it was drained. Dang.
Thank you AAA. we got our money's worth in that one trip.
Sorry babes.
The perils of not having a lights-on notifier and an idiot for a husband that leaves your car out in the driveway.
Oooops.
Maybe the Pork Roast made up for it??

Stretching
Been doing some stretching and mayn, it makes a difference. Feel pretty good and at the same time, the headaches are gone, the back feels great. KB on the other hand seems to be getting more and more tense. And we can't have that.
Need to get her into a routine with me or opposite me.

Geli's Groove
Was listening to World Cafe and a group called "5 years time" canme on. That rhythm was perfect for a Geli back scratch. Strumming the old Geli back. Weird. I haven't seen her smile and lean into it like that....probably ever. She was totally diggin' it.
