KB and I concocted some really good stuff over the weekend. ALmost all involving Lettuce in some shape or form. and we have another pickup on Wednesday so we've been eating lettuce jsut about everyday at every meal.
Last night
Lettuce sandwich (not the signature one)
The other one was marinated grilled steak strips on baguette with lettuce (duh) avocado and grilled Vidalia onions and grilled PEach slices.
turned out to be a really good sandwich

the mulch pile
We commandeered the neighbors grass clippings. and We DID do them a favor. We mulched the entire area between the houses, took the clippings away from their siding so it won't rot the wood and stored the wheelbarrow on end, so it won't fill up with water as they had it.
The good thing is that the clippings will really help break down the now huge mulch pile that straddles the property line.
The experiment is now off to a good start. Especially with this hotday and now this rain.
more later on how this goes

Baby Robin
Tonite, Geli made me do something I really didn't like.
We're on a walk. Our usual after work walk out to the park. It turned into anything but a usual walk. Geli lunges at something in the bushes. Creates a bit of a stir. At first I thought it may have been a field mouse. But it wasn't. It was a baby robin. Geli's pounce left it gutted but still alive and I imagine in a fair amount of pain. Left alone, it probably would have suffered for some time before succumbing.
Being next to the rentention pond, I did the only sensible, least painful thing I could think. It was only a matter of when not if it would die. I took it in my hands gave it a good look, apologized for what Geli just did and wished it a peaceful journey back to the great infinity.
Gently, I submerged it and held it there until it has passed.
Someone had pulled out a dead tree nearby and left small open hole This is where my baby robin now rests.

Gonzo the Great
Bust
stinkin' second place. ...Second place!
Beaten out by the Dress Detectives. 5 ladies uniformly dressed in Lime Sun dresses, big plastic green glasses, green clogs and green accessories
I have to say...they DID have it together.
My Pet Crow did get mentioned again. The MC said that it was great see "my pet crow" back for the second year.
And the Dress Detectives beat us fairly by a decent margin.
Pimp & hoes were a distance 3rd.
Next year, Dress Detectives. Next year.
You can't keep the Crow down!
