Baby Robin

Tonite, Geli made me do something I really didn't like.

We're on a walk. Our usual after work walk out to the park. It turned into anything but a usual walk. Geli lunges at something in the bushes. Creates a bit of a stir. At first I thought it may have been a field mouse. But it wasn't. It was a baby robin. Geli's pounce left it gutted but still alive and I imagine in a fair amount of pain. Left alone, it probably would have suffered for some time before succumbing.

Being next to the rentention pond, I did the only sensible, least painful thing I could think. It was only a matter of when not if it would die. I took it in my hands gave it a good look, apologized for what Geli just did and wished it a peaceful journey back to the great infinity.

Gently, I submerged it and held it there until it has passed.

Someone had pulled out a dead tree nearby and left small open hole This is where my baby robin now rests.
