Pioneer Park Seattle

My new favorite city.
Pioneer park is the original Seattle. Still just a tinge on the gritty side (not really, just a sometimes pushy pan handlers here or there) but certainly one of the best places to stay.

Ok, get this....5 minutes to the warf -straight west from our hotel (to the left in the photo )
10 minutes to pike market
15 minutes to the edge of Belltowne
15 minutes to international district (Uwajamaya! woo hoo)
10 minutes to Zeitgeist Coffee 3 minutes to Cherry Street Coffee (by far the coolest) ok...it was less thank 30 seconds to a Starbucks, but I'm proud to say that we didn't do Starbucks once. Tully's which I normally dislike, well, I spent 2 and a half hours at one studying the Exchange building design-which is way cool, and I recommend THIS Tully's over all the rest. The one coffee thing that I did enjoy was seeing the original Starbucks location and the original logo design which is way cooler than the changes made to please the public sensibilities- if you're not familiar, google original Starbucks logo and compare it to today's)

30 minutes to the Space Needle. The weather and Seattle streetside culture is way worth the walk. Slow it down and do it. It's way good for your body and your soul. We took free bus north to Belltowne the last day only because we tried to stick to a schedule.
don't let me forget the Sci-Fi museum (ehn!) and the Experience Music Project which has a select history of Music and Seattle in particular (I didn't know Jimi was from Seattle!) Worth the visit if not the price.

Did I mention Uwajamaya? By far this was one of the coolest markets I've been in. Sensory overload but way cool! (see entries in Il Diario)
