my console

on the verge of tacking the loft (it's either rainy and blah out or it's WAY too hot (105 yesterday), I made a pit stop to the Habitat store to look for a console that would fit the room. mayn, was my perspective off.

I got a great deal on it but turns out to be a little big for the room.

and it's 1950's stain color so it looks entirely dated.

OK....Ralph Lauren Polo collection pops in my head. Dark blue with pasty green pea trim. The combination looks great together. One thing about Ralphy is that he knows classic colors. These two together remind me of something classic and still vibrant.

Got the unit painted Blue yesterday. ( 2 plus coats)
working on the doors now, but are considering a change. The doors have a 4 panel somewhat gothic detail to em. I originally wanted to paint either the raise trim or the blocks between. After getting the green on the entire thing, I think it needs to be simple. The unit looked busy with all those details and I don't want to bring that back by isolating either the blocks or the trim. All green it is.

Another option which I'm totally prepared for is to make simple, flat new doors with simple brush nickel handles. Mod it up a bit. THEN the color block even makes more sense. Keep it simple.

Pics to come...
